Cycle tourism

May 25, 2017

Along the north border of Fangar runs one the of the cycling routes of the island, on the old road to Pollença, known as “Green route of the Olive tree”, bypassing the towns of Caimari, Binibona, Campanet, Pollença.

Majorca has a network of roads of 1,250 Kms, 675 of which are local and neighbourhood roads, with an average width of approx. 6,50 m. and 20% of them are mountain roads.

Professional cyclists that have visited Majorca have a positive opinion about the island. For example, Stephen Roche (winner of Tour de France, Italian Giro and world championship), came to Majorca advised by Miguel Indurain. According to Roche “Majorca is amazing, its good weather and beautiful nature offer unbeatable possibilities for professional and non/professional cyclists.”.

During winter, the main European teams train in the island due to its ideal conditions.

Amateur teams specially enjoy their deserved holidays from February to May practicing their favourite hobby. Regional roads of great beauty lead to the tiny inland villages where the most authentic culture and gastronomy are to be found.
